Brooklyn Blowhards

Brooklyn Blowhards celebrate both the great legacy of sea shanties and whaling music, as well as the 80th birth year of the free jazz icon and saxophonist Albert Ayler, whose life ended prematurely in the waters of New York Harbor, near the site of the group’s Brooklyn show. Not surprisingly, Blowhards ringmaster Jeff Lederer is a lifelong devotée of the late Ayler and has made it a large part of his musical mission to channel and reinterpret the sounds of Ayler’s ecstatic 1960s music.
