TOBIAS MEINHART
Tobias Meinhart is an award-winning saxophonist and composer based in Brooklyn, New York. Hailing from a small village in rural Bavaria, Germany, Tobias has spent over 15 years building an international career at the forefront of contemporary jazz. He holds degrees from the University of Arts in Basel, the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and a Master’s from the Aaron Copland School of Music in NYC.
A regular performer at iconic venues like the Blue Note, Smalls, and Birdland, Tobias has headlined sold-out shows at Jazz at Lincoln Center and appeared at prestigious festivals, including Winter Jazz Fest NYC and the Jarasum Jazz Festival in Korea. Recognized as an ECHO (German Grammy) nominee and winner of the Getxo Jazz Competition, his album Berlin People reached the first round of the Grammys, and The Painter was named one of DownBeat Magazine’s Best Albums of 2021.
Celebrated by JazzThing as “Germany’s biggest talent on the saxophone,” Tobias is known for blending New York and European jazz influences. He continues to push the boundaries of modern jazz with his upcoming album Sonic River. Featuring an all-star ensemble and produced by Grammy-winner Matt Pierson, Sonic River reflects his commitment to artistic evolution and will be supported by an international tour and media campaigns.
